Back to normal. No rain...high of 70...clear skies.
I was up and out early and off to an estate sale. I was there a bit before 6am. It sounded better than it was...or I was to eager to get out and find something after last week. The sale was okay. I scored a few pieces of furniture actually. They were cheap and small. Then it was around to yardsale after yardsale where I scratched together a pretty nice day! Called it quits around 12.
Soak it in because next weekend looks like rain...
Unpictured was a Penn. dutch cookbook from 1936. I paid 50cents for it but someone grabbed it right out of my truck! My brother...when I stopped by on my way home...probably could have only got $5 from it...so I didn't really mind.
singer featherweight $30 They asked 40 I offered 30...it was a deal. Seems to work...that is it goes up and down when I click the button. What are these selling for now...150-200?
70's comics $1 Flea junk $3ea or 3 for 6.
2 uncensored mags $1 funny funny read...got my $1 worth already...more $3ea junk...2 for 5
hollytime tree stand $2 Was still sealed in box. Figured I'd have to test it before I sold it anyway. Runs great...mint in box. Probably have to ebay it...35 this time of year. Closer to Christmas probably get 50 for it. And knowing me it will take me that long before I get to it.
T&V Limoges France platter 50 cents. It has a paint flake on it...white spot in middle. No chips...but still probably only get 30ish out of it. Without the flake 75ish. I was depressed about the paint flake...then I remembered I only paid 50cents!
coke tray $1 Reproduction right? I couldn't find the wording/date on the edge like the normal reproductions. Even if it isn't the coke tray market has crashed, burned, and rusted into a powder.
amber candy $1 Flea it for $5
Stanley 378 $2.50 Kinda rare one...get 35/40 out of it. If I clean the old sawdust off.
old chapin level 2.50 Same sale as the stanley Get 15 or so from the level.
whirlaway fishing reel w/rod $1 Keep this...not sure why...I already have 3 or 4 and they do sell for 40ish (even now). But still...
snap-on long handle flex 3/8 ratchet $1 IMO the find of the day...70 used on line. But I'm keeping it!! I paid right away stuck it in my pocket and kept shopping. Didn't want them to change their mind! Great shape!
table $5 flea it for 25...take 20...
army sabre $5 Its newer but the price was right. I also for a medic pin and an army hat from the same sale. I forgot to put the hat in the pictures. Its all newer but the hat and pin were $1 for the pair. Probably get 40-50 from the sabre? not 100% more research is needed.
nightstand $5 again the price was right. Part of the 30's waterfall set I think. Probably get 30 for it at the flea...needs a good cleaning. but good shape
Look close on top there is the medical pin
good day. I hope the weather man changes his mind SOON about next weekend!

Nice finds, love it all - the Featherweight, tree stand, Limoges, comics, level, and the sabre especially! First you find a black powder one week, then the next you find a sabre! Boy, I think I'd want to stay on your good side if I was your neighbor!
Would love to find a sabre at a yard sale......all my family has taken up fencing this winter (seriously)!
And the PA. Dutch cookbook being absconded by your brother? Tell him he owes you a meal from every chapter! |

Your bad days....
:::shaking head::::
Those old magazines are a HOOT!
Every so often I'll run across a True Romance, or True Confessions from the 1940's, and I love reading them...they're just.so.amusing.
But I have to say....I LOVE that last table...how gorgeous!!
Great stuff Darin! _________________ I'm Laurie!! Not Chris! |

| Nice score on everything - our weather was in the minus territory over the weekend. Only dreams of yardsales and your photos to keep me going. |

I like your thinking...bring a sabre to a fencing match!
I'm not sure if I'd want the meal...I don't even think a cookbook could save them...the quote from this last thanksgiving "is turkey supposed to be pink?" a hint to anyone having the same problems as him with turkey/food in general...its supposed to be totally thawed before cooking. They eat out...

I didn't say today was a bad day! It wasn't my best...but it was solid! Reading those older magazines is great fun... _________________ Experienced Mischief Maker |

| Wonderful stuff. I hope Featherweights are going for more than $200! I have bought 3 of them and paid more than that for 2 of them. Someday I'm going to use one of them! |

they are going a bit better than I guessed. I spent a little time looking them up. Last time I had one I got about 275 out of it. That was about a year (2?) ago. And it was the 50th anniversary one. So I factored in a common one with a still free falling antique market and came out with 150. But I'm pleased to say that guess was low!
Anyway I thought I should also report on last weekend. No finds...no sales. Rain. I still tried to hit a few sales...even 2 that said rain or shine were closed! I didn't see a single sale. I even tried on Sunday when it was clear (although still wet). Because a few sales said sat/sun. But no...this rain is going to drive me insane! I need my fix! _________________ Experienced Mischief Maker |
